Within the Women’s Platform to Lead (WPL) project, implemented by the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST), in cooperation with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the “Women’s Platform to Lead” forum was established, consisting of about 300 women. The goal of WPL is to promote the culture of women’s participation in political and social life and to support their activities at the local and national levels by supporting participants to create a platform for political and social action, and to promote the role of women leaders. This forum provides women with access to their local and national communities so that they can express their visions, the needs of their society, and the demands of all social groups, and to demonstrate that women have the capacity to play an active role in society and political life.

WithinWithin this group, the funding and project writing committee presented a project entitled, “A Step Towards Combating Violence against Women and Girls”, as part of the initiative “Combating Violence against Women in the Southern Mediterranean Region”, implemented in Lebanon by Najdeh Association & The Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering (RDFL), funded by the European Union. This project was approved and chosen by Najdeh and RDFL for WPL, and its implementation begins at the beginning of June, and will continue for a period of 6 months.
Winning this project is an important first step to achieving the goals of the forum towards a better society. The women of WPL would like to thank Najdeh Association and the RDFL for their trust in WPL, as well as LOST and GIZ, for their continuous support to the forum. WPL is now functioning as an independent unit, in which women have become engaged in the development process of the region, as leaders of their society.
