In the presence of key figures and activists in Baalbeck city, the Lebanese Organization of Studies and Training (LOST), in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), launched the Women’s Committee in Baalbeck Municipality on Friday, November 11, 2016.
The event that was attended by dozens of men, women, and youth active in the public life was a formal announcement of the birth of a feminine public body in Baalbeck municipality called “Women’s Committee in Baalbeck Municipality.” The new committee will be in charge of voicing female interests in gender-sensitive decisions. It is also created to have monthly meetings with the mayor to share ideas and suggest certain projects that respond to people’s needs.
The existence of such committee will definitely promote women participation in public life and enhance social acceptance of women’s role as key contributors to the common welfare.
