“I was a part of a great initiative in Baalbek”, “I was trained on hairdressing and it was the best thing I ever did”, “I got a job in the field of agriculture”, “I can now read and write, I finally defeated illiteracy”, and “I have started my own small business at home in food processing”. These were some of the responses of the participants trained in the projects to the queries of Yukie Mokou, a representative of UNICEF Lebanon country office. Mrs. Mokou visited the “Youth Achievements Exhibition” with a UNICEF delegation, in order to review the progress of the projects being implemented in partnership with the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) in Baalbeck-Hermel region.
LOST organized the exhibition under the patronage and presence of Baalbeck-Hermel Governor Bachir Khodr at the Community Farm, with the participation of hundreds of young people and a large number of civil and social figures. The delegation toured the exhibition and the farm with Dr. Ramy Lakkis, LOST’s founder and the governor, where they learned more about the progress of the projects and listened to the stories and achievements of the youth.
The exhibition included presentations of all social projects implemented by LOST in partnership with UNICEF in Baalbeck-Hermel, including: Education and Literacy projects, Food Processing, Sewing and Embroidery, in addition to the agricultural initiatives and the vocational courses in income-raising projects.
