The “Women’s Platform to Lead”, established by the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) as part of the Women Empowerment in Decision Making Program, and in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), held a ceremony in celebration of International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day at the Tammouz Hall in Baalbeck, in the presence of mayors, civil organizations, and social figures.
Anita Shriem speaking on behalf of LOST, stated, “the overall goal of the ‘Women’s Platform to Lead’ project is to seek a culture of women’s participation in social and political life, and to support their activities at the local and national levels by supporting participants to establish a platform for promoting effective political and social participation, and enhancing women’s leadership role”. The project targets about 300 women and welcomes the participation of all those who want to share this unique idea.

Speaking on behalf of GIZ, Adina Susa stated, “we at the organization are authorized by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. LEAD is a regional program implemented in Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan to support the participation of women in decision-making centers and local politics as active citizens in local development”. She added, “we are working with the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training in all Lebanese regions to launch a community-based project program to support the initiatives of members of municipalities in Lebanon”.
At the end of the ceremony, and as part of the project, medical equipment was delivered to the Baalbeck Governmental Hospital, the Lebanese Red Cross, and the Ein medical clinic at the initiative of the “Women’s Platform to Lead”.
