Timed with the final stages of launching Cycle Two of the Learning and Skills program for Lebanese and Syrian youth, a UK Natcom delegation paid a visit to LOST center in Bedneyel on the 12th of July 2016. The delegation, accompanied by UNICEF and LOST staff, aimed to check upon the progress of the project and the life standards of the Syrian refugees in order to be later able to collect funds and provide necessary support.
The delegation, constituted of eight members, spent about an hour at LOST center in Bedneyel where they had a general overview of LOST’s activities with Lebanese and Syrian youth and watched a display of the Youth-led Initiatives which were accomplished in Cycle One by project participants. Then they headed to Hoch Rafiqa (007) Syrian refugee camp where they toured around the camp and listened to the refugees’ complaints and needs. Afterwards, they attended a Life Skills training class on conflict transformation along with Syrian youth.
Visits of such kind help keep the progress of the project on track since they convince the beneficiaries of the importance of their participation in the project. They also help NGOs in supplying beneficiaries with their basic needs and making sure they are satisfied within the host community. Hopefully this visit, as the precedent ones, can strengthen the relations between NGOs, international organizations, and donors so that funds can be collected for righteous purposes and spent in their proper place.
