Thursday August 13, 2015 Founder of LOST, Dr. Ramy Lakkis and Mayor of Bedneyel, Hajj Ali Mohammed Suleiman, signed a memorandum of understanding(MoU) to start implementing a small community project part of a larger project funded by The Dutch Embassy called, “Strengthening Social Cohesion by Responding to Community Needs in Bekaa”.
The Dutch Embassy and LOST will provide Bedneyel with a Bobcat street sweeper.
Suleiman said, “This project with LOST will have a positive impact on the community and I would love to continue working with LOST and INGO’s to further enhance the living standards for both Syrian and Lebanese.”
The project aimed to engage Syrian refugees and Lebanese young leaders cooperate in finding and solving problems that aroused due to the influx of Syrian refugees in order to reduce tension and promote social cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
“Strengthening Social Cohesion” aims on easing tensions between Syrian and Lebanese based on needs assessment. Bedneyel is one of the four villages chosen for the project.
