Education is a major pillar for a better life in which it paves the way for economic progress, social prosperity and political stability. It provides the population with the necessary knowledge and skills to have a successful life experience. A successful educational process requires a healthy atmosphere, especially in the light of the current challenges of COVID-19 Pandemic. In particular, Salim Haidar Public School, located in Bedneyel, is a center for educating about 2000 Lebanese and Syrian youths, and maintaining its health conditions is an urgent need to secure a safe environment for its students and staff.
The school’s washrooms were in bad conditions with respect to the hygiene standards, so the students were not able to benefit from WC facilities. So, Life Skills 2021 program took it upon itself to renovate all Salim Haidar Public School’s washrooms. This step came in view of the program’s aim to empower and equip youths with the necessary skills to be active contributors within their community and to learn in safe conditions. After washroom facilities were restored, Etab Haidar, the school’s principal said, “We are grateful to Life Skills 2021 program as it is recurrently dealing with challenges that affect youth’s life.”
The program which is funded by the German government, the Kingdom of Netherlands and UK Aid, and is implemented in partnership between UNICEF and the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) is dedicated to support initiatives that build a healthy, successful and prosperous society, and make as many youths as possible able to reach their goals.
