The Center for Mediterranean Integration (CMI) organized a regional legal aid workshop in Marseilles, France, in collaboration with the Lebanese Organization of Studies and Training (LOST), the Justice Center for Legal Aid (JCLA) in Jordan and the Oulamine Law Group. The objective of the Workshop was to provide practical training to practitioners who implement World Bank projects that provide legal aid services to the poor in the Middle East and North Africa Region. Mr Salah Zaiter, LOST Manager of Training and a legal aid practitioner found the workshop “an excellent framework to exchange innovative ideas and procedures used to promote legal aid services”. He also considered that such workshops are very useful not only in sharing experiences but also in engaging practitioners to advocate rights of poor in the Middle East.
The workshop was attended by Mufti of Baalbeck-Hermel Mr Ayman Rifai and Dr Abbas Nisrallah the Chairman of the Islamic University in Lebanon in addition to LOST founder Dr Ramy Lakkis.
