LOST has signed a new project with the British Embassy in Beirut aiming at empowering 60 women in Baalbeck-Hermel to participate in the decision making process of local authorities in order to improve the quality of public services pertaining to women development.
Based on the staggering fact that women’s participation in political decision process is extremely low where women comprise a tiny 2% of the political body, be it local or even national, LOST will work on training 60 women in 4 of the biggest cities in Baalbeck Hermel on municipal work and advocacy techniques and enable them to utilize the knowledge and skills acquired to institutionalize consultative processes with local government by advocating for allocating funds for women empowerment in 4 municipalities in Baalbeck-Hermel region.
The project will also enhance local participation through developing responsiveness to community needs and voicing public concerns through engaging these women in the process of participatory budgeting with local municipalities culminating in their effort to incorporate a well-designed action plan into the budgets of the cities of Baalbeck, Hermel,Nabi Othman, and HawshRafka.
