Established for the main purpose of supporting the Baalbeck International Festivals, the BaalbeckInternational Festivals Friends Committee held its second preparatory meeting to set up the committee’s program of activities for the summer of 2019. This committee consists of the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST), CSOs, and local social actors. Its main aim is to support local development, tourism, and the economy in Baalbeck.
The meeting took place at the conference room of the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST), which was led by the chairman of the committee, Dr. Ramy Lakkis.
Dr. Ramy Lakkis presented the results of the meeting with the Head of Baalbeck International Festivals, Mrs. Nayla de Freige,where the projects and activities of the Friends Committee were discussed, including the preparation of a tourist guide in Baalbek-Hermel region. This guide will be distributed with the festival concert cards. The second project was the preparation of an art exhibition, in cooperation with the Municipality of Baalbek and the Festivals Committee. Dr. Lakkis also represented several projects to be prepared for theirimplementation in Baalbeck, including the Conservatory Library.
“The head of the Festivals Committee expressed her pleasure at the activities of the Friends Committee, and her willingness to fully cooperate in order to ensure the success of the festivals’’, Dr. Lakkis confirmed. To conclude the meeting, Dr. Lakkis distributed tasks for the implementation of these activities and projects.
