Labweh, Arsal, Nabi Othman, and Ain (LANA) villages in Northern Bekaa witnessed a new phase of “People to People” project that connects the four villages via a unique socio-humanitarian thread. The event that is organized by the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) took place on Thursday, March 24, 2016 when LANA youth distributed more than two tons of hand-made food supplies in the four villages.
An amount of 2400 kg of food supplies including labneh, peas, lentils, and beans was distributed to 60 families in LANA zone. The 60 beneficiary families were in effect receiving what LANA people prepared by their own hands as a notion of mutual care and solidarity.
The beneficiaries appreciate the project and perceive the foodstuffs as messages of peace. The villagers working in the project have a similar perception. One of the staff says, “I used to consider the dwellers of that village as enemies, but now I’m impatient to work with them in another project soon.”
The success LOST is achieving in “People to People” makes other villages watch LANA area as a potential model for future prospects of social cohesion and conflict resolution.
