The MCC Food Security project is in full swing now, as Tuesday March 7th, 2014 marked the conclusion of the goat delivering process. LOST staff working on this project took to the field on Tuesday directing a well organized process to ensure each beneficiary received the goat and its kid in their pens. It was a field day full with the joy of helping and interacting with targeted children.
LOST designed this reach out project with one thing in mind, Food Security. The idea of kids suffering malnutrition is unacceptable and even criminal. So the MCC Food Security project, generously sponsored by the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), reached to one of the most important aspect of children’s nutrition which is milk. Sustainability of the milk source came next, so goats were chosen for their adaptability, ability to survive and easiness to raise. The project targeted putting a source of nutritious milk in the form of a goat in the pens of less fortunate families who included kids. Furthermore, LOST accompanied handing out those goats with capacity building trainings held at LOST headquarters in a motivational step toward targeted families to start a new and productive agricultural activity.
Beneficiaries proved very responsive to the project, they clearly understand what impact it can have on their children’s growth. This project is already touching lives and even changing some. So be on the lookout for LOST’s next.
