Amidst the religious and ethnic turmoil in the region, the Lebanese Organization of Studies and Training (LOST) hosted Muslims and Christians in an Iftar as a part of its project “Networks of Peace” (NOP). The Iftar that took place in Baalbeck on Friday, July 1st, 2016 came days after Qaa tragedy to speak out the message of LOST’s project in promoting civil peace and national solidarity.
The speech of LOST’s founder Dr. Ramy Lakkis stressed civil peace as a living style rather than a way to put out fires. “It’s not our project only; civil peace is what we are planting today, and tomorrow’s generations are going to entrench,” he said.
After having the Iftar meal, Muslims were delighted to see their Christian brothers and sisters have brought them a collection of fruits and hand-made sweets as a notion of mutual respect and admiration.
For the peace among the constituents of Baalbeck-Hermel to be well networked, several projects like LOST’s NOP are needed for a greater outreach and wider access to the region’s social make-up.
