In partnership with Humanity & Inclusion (HI), the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) began implementing a program aimed at reducing the threat posed by mines, ERW, and IEDs to the population living in Baalbeck-Hermel. The project will take place in Baalbeck-Hermel Province (Ersal, Qaa, Ein, Fakeha, Ras Baalbeck, and Labwe).
Handicap International is working under the authority of the Lebanon Mine Action Center (LMAC), in partnership with the National Steering Committee for Risk Education to liaise closely with the members of this committee to develop an intervention strategy. The Risk Education sessions will be conducted by LOST. The sessions will include education on threats posed by landmines, explosives remnants of war (ERW), and improvised explosives devices (IED) to ensure that the most at-risk populations know how to deal with threats they are facing in Baalbeck-Hermel. The program is running under the control of LMAC, which is part of the Lebanese army forces (LAF).
