As a pivotal component of Basatine project, a dynamic matchmaking event unfolded at the community farm. This meticulously orchestrated gathering was designed with the overarching objective of fostering meaningful connections between local farmers and a diverse array of suppliers and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
In the early hours of the day, participants, comprising both farmers and SMEs, were engaged in enlightening sessions facilitated by industry experts. These sessions delved into pivotal topics, including Lean manufacturing and production services, as well as the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices. The aim was to equip attendees with invaluable insights and knowledge, enhancing their capabilities and fostering sustainable practices within the agricultural and business realms.
The pinnacle of the day unfolded during the matchmaking session, seamlessly bringing together farmers and the SMEs. Facilitated in partnership with Berytech, this transformative session witnessed the active participation of 106 farmers and 15 SMEs engaging in one-on-one meetings, laying the groundwork for future collaborations. This project is funded by AFD, and implemented by LOST in Baalbeck-Hermel and Central Beqaa in partnership with CARE, Mercy Corps, Berytech, GNFF (In West Beqaa and Akkar), and Al Majmoua. The project aims to sustain the capacity of the Lebanese agriculture to produce food for the local market and create and maintain jobs, in an effort to contribute to the prevention of tensions between host communities and refugees.
