On August 19th, 2016, in celebration of the Humanitarian Day, the Lebanese Organization of Studies and Training (LOST), in partnership with UNICEF, organized youth uniting activities in its versatile branches across Baalbeck-Hermel region to give youth better understanding of this occasion and let them pass their knowledge over to the surrounding communities.
Starting off from Ersal, 55 Lebanese and Syrian youth gathered to draw a symbolic colorful painting with their handprints, and they later drew logos and writings about the concept of humanity and its values.
In Hermel, 42 Lebanese and Syrian youth gathered at Jar El Qamar restaurant. They performed a play and drew pictures and logos which express the values of humanity
Moving to Ein, LOST staff arranged two activities which targeted 14 Lebanese and Syrian orphans and extremely poor youth. The first activity was at Ein LOST center where participants shared breakfast, participated in leisure activities, and sang together. Then they headed to Ein Resort, where youth competed in swimming and other sport activities. In the end of the day, clothing and presents were distributed over beneficiaries.
In Shaat, beneficiaries from the Peace Education Program searched for the neediest families and allocated financial donation to one of them. The targeted family which was badly suffering with low life standards, a cancer-carrying dad, and a handicapped child received food products from the volunteers.
On the move to Baalbeck, a merge fund raising activity was organized by LOST supervisors and Lebanese beneficiaries. The Lebanese participants prepared home-made sweets and drinks and sold them among each other. Then they bought presents with the collected money and headed to Syrian refugee camps to distribute them over the Syrian youth there.
In Britel, a group of Lebanese beneficiaries headed toward a Syrian camp and accompanied 15 Syrian youth to the local park where they participated in various sports activities together. Then they organized a cleaning campaign altogether in the park and distributed roses among each other.
In Talya, 39 Lebanese and Syrian youth planted flowers around Talya center and cooperated in painting its walls and decorating them.
Off to Bedneyel and Shmustar where LOST staff arranged some meetings and merge activities between Lebanese and Syrian beneficiaries in which discussions revolving around the significance of the Humanitarian Day took place. The same activity was also executed in Deir El Ahmar.
In Bouday, under the title “Together to Preserve the Environment,” 30 Lebanese and Syrian beneficiaries gathered for a Volleyball match in a playground offered by the municipality, which was followed by a cleaning campaign in the playground after the match was over.
