In the Beqaa Valley, across 63 vibrant villages, agriculture isn’t just a way of life, it’s the lifeline of Baalbeck-El Hermel region. From grandfathers to sons, generations of farmers have cultivated crops like cereals, pulses, and vegetables, growing a rich agricultural heritage.
Thanks to the incredible support of the Drosos Foundation, which funded The Golden Crops project implemented by The Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training. Over 600 Lebanese farmers have been empowered with the tools, resources, and knowledge to elevate their farming practices. The focus on cereals and pulses, crops known for their nutritional value and sustainability, has created a huge progress across the valley.
But it doesn’t stop there! As part of this game-changing initiative, two purchasing and selling committees were established and supported by LOST in Iaat and Deir Al Ahmar, and they didn’t come empty-handed. Equipped with a modern planter and tank sprayer, these committees are taking farming to another level. The result was evident through higher quality crops, increased production, and a stronger agricultural value chain benefiting the entire community.
This initiative isn’t just a gift, it’s a crucial life supply boosting livelihood, empowering farmers, and planting the seeds for a sustainable future in Baalbeck-El Hermel. With initiatives like Golden Crops, agriculture is more than work, it’s a pathway to growth, sustainability, and a brighter tomorrow.
