On the first day of winter seedlings distribution, the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) distributed lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbage to local vegetable farmers in the city of Baalbeck. These farmers applied for the “Agriculture and Value Chain Development” project (AVD), being implemented by LOST in partnership with Welthungerhilfe (WHH) in the region of Baalbeck-Hermel. The first distribution phase was successfully completed in Baalbeck, while the distribution of seedlings in other areas will begin in the coming days.
The distribution was attended by LOST’s founder, Dr. Rami Al-Lakkis, in addition to the project team of engineers and supervisors. The farmers were very cheerful and optimistic about the support provided by the organization and the promising agricultural results.
Throughout the whole implementation period, these farmers will receive agricultural and agribusiness trainings, in order to increase the production quality on one hand and to manage production value chains on the other hand. Moreover, this project will provide constant and continuous follow-up, where engineers will support the farmers in the plantation and the installation of irrigation systems.
