Life Skills 2021 is a program implemented in partnership between UNICEF and the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST), and funded by the German government, the Kingdom of Netherlands, and UK Aid. The program aims at empowering youth and creating an atmosphere of social cohesion.
The program youth participants decided to respond to some community needs figured out after conducting several needs assessments, especially in the light of COVID-19 Pandemic repercussions. Providing the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) with medical materials and resources was categorized as a priority. As such, LRC received 40 oximeters, 4 oxygen tanks, a barometer and 20 sphygmomanometers from Life Skills 2021 participants as a support in providing the necessary health services to the community.
The participating youth were highly enthusiastic about the LRC-support initiative in which they implemented what they have learned in the training workshops. They were able to actively participate in responding to a key community need which is supporting LRC with some medical equipment.
The Life Skills 2021 youth initiative was held in cooperation with local stakeholders and members of the municipality in Baalbeck area. The program offers assistance in matters regarding health care, and many upcoming initiatives are on their way.
