The International Council for Volunteering Agencies (ICVA) in collaboration with the Lebanese organization of Studies and Training (LOST) conducted 3 focus groups for affected population (Syrian youth and leaders, Palestinian, and vulnerable Lebanese) at LOST premises in Baalbeck on November 5th, 2014.
Aiming at building on the affected populations’ experience on the ground, these focus groups will result in realistic and objective recommendations to be finalized and submitted in the annual conference that ICVA will hold in March 2015.
The focus groups were characterized by homogeneity, but with sufficient variation among participants to allow for contrasting opinions. Each group engaged 20 participants who represent a variety of the affected population. LOST created a comfortable, inviting situation in order to decrease any barriers on the setting position and encourage fruitful and open discussion; a “trust circle” was also conducted to ensure confidentiality.
