The Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) presented 100 laptops at its headquarters in Baalbeck to five official secondary schools in Baalbeck-Hermel Governorate: Al-Qasr, Mufleh Mohammad Said Olwa, Al-Qaa, Al-Ain, and Al-Fakiha Secondary Schools, in the presence of Sonia Khoury, who oversees the Reaching all Children with Education program for MEHE, senior officials, and public figures.
Dr. Rami Lakkis, the founder of LOST, speaking about the importance of informatics in schools and the cooperation between the organization and the public sector said, “this assistance was provided by Mrs. Suaad Al-Khalil from France, and we are handing it over to five secondary schools. This step is aimed at alleviating illiteracy, and our contribution will not stop here, but we will continue to follow up and support schools, in cooperation with the ministry, in the technical matters, the provision of education informatics teachers, and the quest for more computers”.
Mrs. Khoury thanked LOST for this important partnership stating, “this project will continue for three years, and we hope that the beneficiary schools will take advantage of this period and assistance to achieve development on the level of education informatics on one hand, and recruiting teachers from this domain on the other, in addition to trying to transform formal education from traditional to digital learning”.
Moreover, Mrs. Khoury stressed that the selection of secondary schools was based on their primary needs, and due to the ministry’s inability to provide professors of informatics, it has been approved for the organization to provide professors for these schools.
Mrs. Khoury concluded, “it is true that our schools are exhausted due to the second shift classes of the Syrians, but we have to exploit this crisis and turn it into an opportunity by investing aid and funding for the development of our schools”.
