Thursday, May 12, 2016, the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) organized the kick-off of its project “Peace Building Strategy for Baalbeck-Hermel” in partnership with ZIVIK Funding Programme. The event that took place in LOST’s headquarter in Baalbeck was an opportunity to juxtapose the project’s goals among which is creating an independent platform for real and constructive dialogue in the society.
The project, which is going to be conducted in Baalbeck, Hermel, Ein, and Bedneyel in an eight-month period of time, has 100 beneficiaries from Northern Bekaa including municipality police, municipality members, NGOs, educators, and tribal reconciliation committees.
The program aims at building capacity of municipalities, NGOs, educational institutions, and local reconciliation groups with the objective of putting the Sunni-Shiite conflict issue on the local agenda. It also promotes a culture of non-violent conflict transformation and peace in Baalbeck-Hermel region.
LOST and ZIVIK’s “Peace Building Strategy for Baalbeck–Hermel” puts the genuine reasons of potential conflicts on the platform of discussion, and capacitates the local authorities to pinpoint the proper solution-finding tools.
