Supporting the agricultural sector and transforming the economy into a productive one is a priority for the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST). In response to the increasing agricultural needs, the Agriculture Authority/ Department in Baalbek-Hermel received a set of agricultural equipment from LOST. The handover took place under the auspices of the Agriculture Minister, Dr. Abbas Al-Haj Hassan, and the Head of the Authority, Dr. Mahmoud Abdalla.
The minister pointed out the importance of cooperation between public and the private sector. He added, “We call on international institutions to place the agricultural sector at the top of their priorities as food security is the basis for protecting society and people.”
The founder of LOST, Dr. Ramy Lakkis, underscored the cooperation between LOST, the Ministry of Agriculture and its authorities, and the international donors, which contributes to the development of the agricultural sector, improvement of local production, and support of the farmers.
The submitted materials include versatile equipment that can be used by agricultural engineers and veterinarians in 9 centers of the Agriculture Authority/ Department in Baalbek-Hermel. They are provided as a part of the “Supporting Farmers and Improving the Agricultural Environment” project implemented by LOST in partnership with Welthungerhilfe and with the funding of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
