“Summer Camps 2014″ is a collaboration between LOST and the Embassy of Switzerland designed to train Syrian and Lebanese youth in Baalbeck-Hermel on English Language Skills and Information Technology Skills. The camp grouped together Syrian and Lebanese youth who worked in harmony, raising aspects of youth communication and collaboration, building bridges and creating friendships, such is the story of Sham and Fatima. Sham Roshdan descends from Yarmuk, Syria. She is a 17 year old sophomore who wants to be a banker, Fatima Zaayter who is also 17 descends from Iaat, Lebanon, and she is an accounting and IT student who aspires to become an accountant.
Upon quizzing them Sham stated she never knew Lebanese youth but she thought of them as” arrogant with style and flair”. Similarly Fatima said that she never knew Syrian youth but she thought they were “snobs”, both now reject stereotyping and regret their actions as Fatima says “I love my hilariously funny friend Sham”, and she replies” well her smile just lights up my day, she is a good soul”.The ladies signed off with a word of thanks to the project sponsors and staff saying they acquired great knowledge in this project that will help shape up their future; they also gained a friendship that will last eternally.
