It has been a month since the “Basic Literacy and Numeracy (BLN)” project was launched. The project that the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training is running in partnership with UNICEF prepares the children between 8 and 14 years old to join elementary learning in public schools.
The children have two modalities of learning- in-person and online. To ensure the best teaching-learning practices, the team has been trained on several skills involving the two modalities; class management, creating online classes, Akelius, Learning Passport, PSEA, CP, and others.
After 18 months of the classes being ceased as a result of COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown, the children are enjoying the in-person classes more than ever before, and parents are feeling safe in the light of the hygiene and safety conditions being considered and applied.
The program is taking place in 22 centers across Baalbeck-Hermel and Bekaa governorates, in which more than 2000 children are receiving standardized teaching material in the following courses: Arabic language, English/French as a first foreign language, Maths, and Life Skills. The children were also educated on awareness sessions about COVID-19 and healthy self-care practices.
