In the realm of its Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) funded project, “Promoting Women’s Role in Political Participation in Baalbeck,” the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) arranged a group of meetings for the participating women with some of the society’s key figures in Baalbeck–Hermel region. The visitors shared their issues, problems, and views with the region’s active personage concerning the participation in public life.
The project offered its participants the chance to separately meet the Mufti of Baalbeck, Sheikh Bakr Refaie, the mayor of the city, and Amal Party representatives. It was an opportunity for the women to express their interests and voice their demands to be supported in their journey toward active political participation. In response, they received all sorts of sustenance form the city’s key figures who appreciated the women’s enthusiasm in being active in the public life.
LOST has also arranged a colloquy entitled “The Rule of Law” for the participants in the presence of Baalbeck-Hermel governor, Bashir Khodor. He showed absolute support to women being active in public life as “key promoters of the rule of law,” as he said.
What LOST and its partners are doing aims at creating a new generation of enthusiastic women whose fingerprint is noticeable in public life and political participation.
