“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” With this concept in mind, the Lebanese Organization of Studies and Training (LOST), in partnership with the Italian NGO AVSI and the funding of UNICEF, paved the way for 75 Lebanese and Syrian beneficiaries in Baalbeck-Hermel to receive professional training on financially productive agricultural crafts.
The participants were trained on synthesizing soap, preparing jam, raising bees, trimming trees, and raising chicken in Ain, Hermel, Shaat, Shmustar, and Baalbeck respectively. Each craft was trained in an average of 16 sessions for male and female youth between 15 and 30 years old. To bring the training a step forward, the beneficiaries were provided with the necessary marketing techniques to promote their skills and products in the market.
This trilateral cooperation between LOST, AVSI, and UNICEF is directed to alleviate the socio-economic situation of the Lebanese and Syrian residents in Baalbeck-Hermel and increase their productivity and financial capacity.
