As most people have heard the famous sayings “education is the key to success” or “when opportunity knocks your door, answer it”. For young Hassan Rifai, this was the case, where his story of hope began.
Seeing how difficult it is to find a job in Baalbeck-Hermel, especially without the proper skills set, Hassan, a 20-year Lebanese male decided to find a way to improve his life. Fed up with sitting at home and feeling hopeless, Hassan began his quest for change. He began asking friends about different programs he could join, when he was pointed to the “Bina” program and the variety of skill sets it offers.
The “Bina” program, funded by the Berufliche Fortbildungszentren Der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (Bfz), and in collaboration with the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) provides different certified vocational training courses in subjects varying from Hospitality to Gastronomy. After learning about “Bina”, Hassan was intrigued and immediately signed up for the program, where he benefitted from the Hospitality courses and became certified. Upon completing the program, Hassan became equipped with the skills required to find a job in the hospitality field, and he now works at a local restaurant in Baalbeck.
Hassan’s story comes to prove that a simple decision can change a person’s life when combined with knowledge and determination. Hassan stated, “participating in the “Bina” program has changed my life”, as he continues to dream of a better life.
