In 2023, the Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST), with funding from Room to Read, launched a
nationwide initiative through its Non-Formal Education program, successfully establishing 15 libraries and 125 reading corners across Lebanon. This achievement was part of a long-term, sustainable strategy to promote literacy and foster inclusive learning environments, particularly for children in marginalized and underserved communities.
Building on this momentum, in 2025, LOST expanded its efforts by partnering with Dirasa and a network of semi-private schools to create 15 new large-scale libraries within 15 Dirasa/ semi-Private Schools. This milestone enhanced students’ access to high-quality educational resources and helped cultivate a deeper culture of reading and self-directed learning. Today, LOST continues to advance its mission by launching an additional 15 readingcorners in public schools. These reading corners are designed not merely as physical spaces, but as vibranteducational hubs, places that spark imagination, encourage critical thinking, and nurture a lifelong love of learning.
As reflected in the accompanying map, LOST, with Room to Read’s funding and collaboration, has distributed over n193,952 books across every governorate in Lebanon. This nationwide reach illustrates the transformative potential of investing in literacy to build a more informed, resilient, and empowered generation.
