After the successful execution of the EWL2 component as part of the Women’s Platform to Lead project, LOST, as a main partner of GIZ LEAD, will utilize the experience gained by supervising the implementation of 13 new community projects across Lebanon, within the “My Project for My Community” initiative. This project comes within the framework of the LEAD program that targets female members of municipal councils in Lebanon, in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), funded by the German government.

LOST’s role in these initiatives is to facilitate the implementation of the 13 community projects through providing technical and practical support. The objective behind these initiatives is focusing on women’s roles in municipal activities in civil society, boosting the trust of communities in the crucial role of women in municipal work, empowering and developing the capabilities of women in planning and executing small community projects, and enhancing the lead of women in local communities through increasing their opportunities in decision making in their areas by responding to the needs of local communities.

Among the 13 projects that were executed in different areas in Beqaa and Mount Lebanon are the following initiatives:
A lecture hall was equipped with acoustics and a projector in the town of Barqa, Baalbeck district.
The public park in the town of Abbasiya, Tire district, has been rehabilitated and equipped with new outdoor games.
In order to increase the green areas, 770 trees and seedlings were introduced and planted in Al-Ghaba, Al-Matn District.
15 computers were provided to Baakline Official Secondary School in Chouf.
LOST provided 106 LED bulbs to illuminate the main street in the town of Al-Khader, Baalbeck District.
Provision of 17 sports machines were built to facilitate and encourage
exercise in the town of Abreen in Batroun.
Provision of outdoor children games for the public park in the town of Anfa in Koura.
