“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture, and transform”. To commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2017, women who participated in the Empowering Women to Lead project, supported by GIZ and the Lebanese Organization of Studies and Training (LOST) celebrated this day in eight of LOST’s branches. In the 8 villages, a lecture/seminar about women’s day and a women’s role in society was given to attendees. In addition, gifts were distributed to them, which included customized mugs, pins, and roses. Furthermore, women celebrated by leaving their painted handprints on a wall, while also expressing their thoughts and ideas. Poetry and spoken word were also among the various ways women used to express their thoughts and feelings on this day. Some women created a “wish tree”, where they wrote their hopes and wishes for their role in society.
The Lebanese Organization of Studies and Training (LOST) strives to continuously empower women, by allowing them to participate in community projects, as well as leadership roles. As an organization, LOST is committed to help women achieve their ambitions, from raising awareness to concrete action. Through collaboration, women can advance in society, and they can become leaders, in an effort to unleash their limitless potential.
