The Lebanese Organization of Studies and Training (LOST), in partnership with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), launched a project entitled “Promoting the Role of Women’s Committee in Baalbeck Municipality”. This project aims at promoting women’s role in the municipal council by activating the role of the Women’s Committee in Baalbeck Municipality (WCBM), which is constituted of 10 women.
The municipal women in the city of Baalbeck completed the preparation of a needs analysis, which is aimed at obtaining information that helps in determining the needs of the community. In addition, the women who are participating in this project underwent a four-month training course on the following topics: introduction to project cycle management, needs assessment, needs analysis, project planning and management, project design, conducting feasibility studies, budgeting, evaluation, and designing a needs questionnaire.
The women will choose a sample of 400 people in Baalbeck to identify their most basic needs. Based on the identified needs, three projects will be written by the municipal workers and will be announced at a press conference. These women will also present the three projects to donor institutions, in order to provide the necessary funding to address these needs.
