“Creating Youth Lebanese and Syrian Role Models to promote Social Cohesion in Baalbeck,” a project launched by the Lebanese Organization of Studies and Training (LOST), in partnership with UNESCO, steps into its second phase of implementation. This project aims at empowering local NGOs through creating youth role models (15-21) on the basis of social cohesion.
During the second phase of the project, 30 Lebanese and Syrian youth from the Lebanese Association for Students (LAS) attended a civic training session, in which youth were trained on leadership, civic participation, tolerance, conflict resolution, human rights, communication skills, and anger management. In addition, 36 Lebanese and Syrian youth from the Lebanese Youth Network (LYN) attended a civic training session, as well as a football training session, which enabled them to interact with one another.
Through these trainings, Lebanese and Syrian youth are given a chance at creating social relations with one another en route to promoting social cohesion. With UNESCO’s support, LOST is able to create youth role models who interact and work together, in an effort to reduce tension and create a peaceful culture.
