Wednesday, January 11th, 2016, the Lebanese Organization of Studies and Training (LOST), with the support of UNICEF and in coordination with the Digital Opportunity Trust in Lebanon (DOT), held a final ceremonial event for the Innovation Lab project at Kasr Baalbeck. The goal of this project was to develop digital skills for youth in several areas in the Baalbeck-Hermel region.
At the event, municipal members from Ersal, Harbata, Nabi Othman, Fakiha, Ein, and Ksarnaba were present. In addition, stakeholders from Baalbeck-Hermel region, as well as the mayors of Ersal, Harbata, Nabi Othman, and Ksarnaba attended the event as well. LOST representatives spoke about the role of youth in developing their societies, and emphasized the importance of creating websites for municipalities. Moreover, DOT representatives spoke about the progress of the project, as well as the training for 50 students that took place in Bedneyel and Ain centers. At the end of the event, certificates were distributed to youth, followed by a lunch.
Through the innovation lab, youth are now more aware of issues that need resolving in their local communities. They have been provided with the appropriate tools to carry out new innovations in their communities, and the ability to open their own businesses. Most importantly, youth will be able to benefit their societies, especially the underdeveloped ones, through their newly acquired skills.
